Refunds and cancellation

Client Companion. Last updated 6 August 2026.

The short version: you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days and get your money back, and we do not ask you to justify it. If the app turns out to be faulty or not as described, you have further rights that last far longer than 14 days, and this page does not touch them.

Your right to cancel, 14 days

Buying Client Companion online makes this a distance contract, so the Consumer Rights Act 2022 gives you 14 days to cancel it without giving any reason. The 14 days run from the day the licence is supplied to you.

Some sellers of downloads ask you to tick a box at the checkout giving up this right in exchange for instant delivery. We do not do that. There is no such box at our checkout, so your full 14 day right to cancel stands whether you installed the app or not, and whether you used it on a paid job or not.

How to cancel

Email support@digiopapps.com from the address you bought with, or tell us which address you used. Any clear statement that you are cancelling is enough. If you prefer a set form of words, this one does the job:

To DigiOp Apps, support@digiopapps.com:

I give notice that I cancel my contract for the sale of Client Companion.

Ordered on:
Name:
Address:
Date:

We refund the full amount you paid, to the same payment method you used, and the law gives us 14 days from the day we are told to do it. In practice we start it the day we read your email. How quickly it then appears is down to your bank or card issuer.

You do not need to give a reason, and we will not ask you for one. If you want to tell us what did not work, it is welcome and it makes the app better for the next person, but it is never a condition of getting your money back.

What happens to the app when you are refunded. Cancelling ends the contract, so once we have refunded you your licence key is switched off and Client Companion stops working on your Macs. The app picks that up the next time it has an internet connection, so on a machine kept offline it takes a little longer to take effect. Nothing else is touched and nothing is deleted: your sessions, your captures, your artwork and your Capture One setup are yours, they stay exactly where they are, and they are not ours to alter.

If something is wrong with the app

This is separate from cancelling, and it is not limited to 14 days. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 the app has to match how we describe it, work as you would reasonably expect, and stay compatible with what we said it runs on. If it does not, you are entitled to have it put right free of charge, in the shortest reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to you.

If we cannot put it right, if doing so is impossible, or if the fault is serious, you can then ask for a price reduction or a full refund instead. For the first 12 months, if something is not working as it should, it is on us to show the app was fine rather than on you to prove it was not.

None of that expires when the 14 days do. Email us whenever it happens and we will deal with it.

Check one thing before you buy

Client Companion requires a Capture One Studio licence on your Mac. Delivery to the iPad goes through Live for Studio, which is a Studio feature, so Capture One Pro on its own will not run it. This is the one condition worth checking before you pay.

What the app needs in order to work:

  • Capture One Studio on a Mac, with a session based workflow
  • An iPad running the free Live for Studio app
  • The Mac and the iPad on the same network

Capture One Studio and Live for Studio are products of Capture One A/S. They are sold and licensed by that company under its own terms and they are not included in the price of Client Companion. If you buy and then find you do not have Studio, the 14 day cancellation above covers you in full.

What you are buying

How your licence reaches you

Your licence is sent by email after purchase. It is not shown on screen at the checkout, so use an address you can open. That email is also your written confirmation of the contract, so it is worth keeping.

Every order is checked by a person before the licence goes out, so there is a short wait rather than an instant delivery. If nothing has arrived by the next working day, check your spam folder first, then email us and we will sort it the same day we see it.

What this page does not do

It does not reduce your rights. Where the Consumer Rights Act 2022, or any other consumer law that applies to you, gives you more than we offer here, that law wins and we will honour it. Any term that tried to sign away your right to cancel would have no effect anyway, and we have not tried to write one.

Two practical limits worth stating plainly, neither of which touches the rights above:

After a refund your licence for that purchase stops being valid, and we ask that you remove the app from your Macs. You are welcome to buy again later if your setup changes.

Buying from outside Ireland

Buyers elsewhere in the EU have the same 14 day cancellation right under the EU rules this Act implements. Buyers in the United Kingdom have an equivalent right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and equivalent quality rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Wherever you are, the policy above is what we apply, and your own local consumer law applies on top where it gives you more.

Who you are buying from

Client Companion is sold by Dylan Madden Photography, the business of Dylan Madden, trading in Ireland. DigiOp Apps is the name we publish our apps under. Payment is taken through Stripe, so your card statement will show DIGIOPAPPS.COM, and if you paid using Link it may appear as LINK.COM followed by DIGIOPAPPS.COM. That is us either way. Your receipt is issued by Stripe on our behalf.
