Terms of use
Client Companion. Last updated 6 August 2026.
The short version: you buy it once, you own that version forever on one Mac at a time (move it between your own Macs whenever you like), there is a 14 day refund, and you keep your own backups because software is software.
Your licence
When you buy Client Companion you get a perpetual licence to use that version. It is yours to keep, with no subscription. The licence is personal to you and covers one Mac at a time that you own or control. You can move it to another of your Macs whenever you like: in Client Companion on the old Mac choose “Move licence to another Mac” to free it, then activate on the new one.
One‑time online activation. Within 30 days of first use, Client Companion checks your licence online once to lock it to your Mac. That check sends your licence key and a one‑way fingerprint of the machine — nothing about your photos, files or session, and no personal documents (see Privacy). After it activates, the app runs fully offline and never needs the internet to work. If you are refunded, the licence is revoked and the app stops working.
The licence is personal to you. Please do not share, resell, sublicense or redistribute your licence key or the app, and please do not try to circumvent the activation or licensing.
The Client Companion engine and the methods behind it are our confidential trade secrets. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except to the limited extent the law expressly allows and that right cannot be excluded by agreement (for example, to achieve interoperability where the conditions set out in law are met).
Updates
Fixes and compatibility updates are included. New features arrive in an optional yearly update that you can take or leave. Either way, the version you already have keeps working.
Refunds
If Client Companion does not earn its keep on your first shoot, email us within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you. When we refund a licence it is revoked, and the app stops working the next time it is online.
Your statutory rights. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 and other Irish and EU consumer law, including your rights where the software is faulty or not as described. Those rights stand in addition to the refund above.
What you need to run it
Client Companion requires Capture One Studio on a Mac and the free Live for Studio app on an iPad on the same network. Those are products of Capture One A/S and Apple Inc, sold and licensed under their own terms. We are independent of both and cannot control changes they make to their software.
No warranty, and your backups
Client Companion is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. It is a helper for your set, not a backup system. Always keep your own copies of your captures. To the fullest extent the law allows, DigiOp.ie is not liable for lost frames, lost data, or indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the licence. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
Intellectual property
DigiOp.ie owns Client Companion, the DigiOp Apps name and the content of this site. Capture One and Live for Studio are trademarks of Capture One A/S. Apple, Mac and iPad are trademarks of Apple Inc. They are used here for identification only.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction.
